Former BCCI President Passed Away: Former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Inderjit Singh Bindra, passed away on January 25th. He breathed his last at the age of 84. The news of his death sent shockwaves through the cricket world. ICC Chairman Jay Shah also expressed his condolences on Bindra’s death and shared an emotional post on social media. His contribution to Indian cricket cannot be forgotten.

Served as President of Punjab Cricket Association for 30 years
Bindra served as the 23rd president of the BCCI from 1993 to 1996. He had been unwell for some time and was battling age-related ailments. Bindra also served as the president of the Punjab Cricket Association for nearly 30 years. The Mohali Cricket Stadium is named after him.
The stadium is known as the IS Bindra Stadium. India hosted the 1987 and 1996 World Cups, and Bindra, along with Jagmohan Dalmiya, played a crucial role in securing the hosting rights. Both worked tirelessly to bring the World Cup to India.

On social media, Jay Shah expressed his condolences on Bindra’s death, writing, “Deepest condolences on the passing of a legend of Indian cricket administration and former BCCI President, Shri I.S. Bindra. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations. Om Shanti.”
He had a four-decade-long career in cricket administration, which began in 1975. He also paved the way for the BCCI to become the world’s richest board in the Indian cricket television market. He served as the president of the Punjab Cricket Association from 1978 to 2014.
According to family sources, his last rites will be performed on January 26th at the Lodhi Crematorium in New Delhi. He is survived by his wife Kamal Bindra, son Amar Bindra, and a daughter.
