IND vs NZ 3rd ODI: A three-match ODI series was played between India and New Zealand. The final match of the series was played on January 18 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips played brilliant centuries for New Zealand. They put the Indian bowlers to the sword.
New Zealand posted a massive score against India in this match. India got off to a poor start while chasing the target. Apart from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill also disappointed. New Zealand won the match by 41 runs and created history. New Zealand won an ODI series against India on Indian soil for the first time in history. Before this, New Zealand had never won an ODI series in India.
New Zealand rewrites history in IND vs NZ 3rd ODI
New Zealand, batting first, scored 337/8 in 50 overs. Opening batsman Devon Conway scored 5 runs off 4 balls, and Henry Nicholls returned to the pavilion without scoring. Then, Daryl Mitchell, who came in at number 4, played a magnificent innings of 137 runs off 131 balls. Glenn Phillips also scored 106 runs off 88 balls. Michael Bracewell contributed 28 runs off 18 balls.
While chasing the target, the Indian team got off to a poor start. Opening batsman Rohit Sharma scored 11 runs off 13 balls. Shubman Gill scored 23 runs off 18 balls. In the middle order, Shreyas Iyer scored 3 runs off 10 balls. Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings of 124 runs off 108 balls for India.
Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 53 runs off 57 balls, and Harshit Rana scored 52 runs off 43 balls. The Indian team was bowled out for 296 runs in 46 overs, and New Zealand won the match by 41 runs.
With this, New Zealand created history in India. There were almost 16 years during which the New Zealand team hadn’t won any ODI series against India at home. At Indore the specially Youngest New Zealand players performed very well and created history in India.
