The Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 and the T20 series against New Zealand was announced today. The ODI series against New Zealand will begin on January 11th, while the T20 series will start on January 21st. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Team India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the squad at a press conference.
While there aren’t many changes in the T20 World Cup squad, these players will get an opportunity to prepare for the mega tournament.

The squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 and the T20 series against New Zealand has been announced. A major change is also visible. Shubman Gill, who has been struggling with poor form, has been dropped from the squad. Ishan Kishan has been given a chance in his place. Kishan will be the team’s second wicketkeeper-batsman. Axar Patel has also been appointed as the vice-captain.

Jitesh Sharma has also been dropped. Rinku Singh has returned to the squad in his place. All other players were seen playing in the previous series. Despite his poor form, captain Suryakumar Yadav remains in the squad. Surya’s form will be closely watched in this series. Sanju Samson, along with Abhishek Sharma, might get a chance to open the innings. Kishan could be the backup opener.
