According to the Cricbuzz report, Rishabh Pant appeared to be in considerable pain after being hit by the ball. The team’s physio and doctors then treated him, and it was found that the injury was serious enough to rule him out of the three-match series.
Although no official word has been released by the BCCI yet, Pant is expected to leave the Indian team by this morning. It is also not yet known how long it will take for him to recover.
KL Rahul is already the designated wicketkeeper for the ODI series against New Zealand. However, if the selectors announce a replacement for Pant, Ishan Kishan might get a chance. Ishan has recently performed brilliantly, which has led to his recall to the Indian T20 team. His wicketkeeping skills are also impressive.
Pant made his ODI debut for the Indian team in 2018. He played his last ODI in 2024. KL Rahul is currently playing as the wicketkeeper in his place in the Indian ODI team. Pant has so far scored a total of 871 runs in 31 ODI matches for the Indian team, including one century and five half-centuries.
